My Marketing Techinques
Running a small business together with getting it out there to the right people can be a very difficult and tedious task for some of us/you. There are many people out there that think that just because they have a great product it would be an easy sell. Let me share my latest experience with you...I have been out there, on the streets, trying to make sales. Well I went into GNC the other day and was speaking with Doyle, the Manager, about the product and his defenses were up big time. All I was doing was asking him to review the information and give me some feedback - no signing up, no pressure - just please give me some validation/opinions on my product since he is obviously well educated in the field of nutrition. Well, needless to say I asked him for a phone number and he declined saying that he would review and e-mail me. Okay so I let two days go by - no word from him so I called him at the store. Yes he was working and he gave me a minute while I asked him if he had a chance to review information. His reply to me a great big juicy "NO - not yet". I then proceeded to inquire as to whether or not I could call him back in a few days and he was very short and curt only to tell me that he would rather I did not call him and that 'when' he has a chance to review he will e-mail me with his findings and thoughts. Okay - that one bombed out on me - but then I listened to a Qivana conference call that very night on the phone and got even more ideas on how to approach potential customers and just because that one contact failed - I am going to approach Chiropractors in the area. Now because I am primarily new to this particular concept of selling (even tho I sold real estate for many years) I am out there posting in whatever Group I can find as well as adding more and more information to my blog, I have adopted Magnetic Sponsoring into my venture, and also joined Partner Up. I guess what I am trying to get across to all of you is that when we make a decision to become an Independent Business Owner - the customers and /or potential IBO's don't just come to us -- we need to be pro-active in our search. One on one networking is also a great place to start - try going to Meetup.com and join some local groups in your area where networking and sharing your business is basically mandatory, therefore not making you feel as though you should not be sharing your product or business venture. Also check out the Chamber of Commerce in your area.
I am looking forward to a great lasting relationship with each and every one of you and hope that you will feel free to post your comments to anything written in this blog. We can ALL learn from each other.
